What’s So Odd About Meat? The human species has conflicted and unexamined views of who and what is meat. Is it flesh? Whose flesh? Is it food? Whose food? Is it a common biology we share with other animals or an intellectual construct? Who makes those calls and why?
This show is the first JAAG Online Gallery exhibition. All entires submitted by any artist to an open call for art that fit the theme, ethical and physical criteria are represented here.
"Exhibit all" shows are about egality, variety and the unexpected that makes them exciting. They offer an unfilterd glimpse into how artists think about a particular idea - in this case, meat.
The engagement of both the artist and the audience taps into the potential power of putting art and activism together. Visual art brings open minds and new ideas together in a way like no other means of communiation.
Twelve of these works have been chosen for a Wall Exhibit as part of the JAAG Annual Juried Exhibit. Selections were made by a jury of artists and activists.
Opening: Friday, October 2, 7:30pm 2615 E. Franklin Ave. Minneapolis, MN 55406
Hosted by the Animal Rights Coalition
Space is shared with Fast & Furless Vegan Emporium.

About Justice for Animals Arts Guild (JAAG)Justice for Animals Arts Guild (JAAG) exists to support artists whose art and actions advance the rights of animals and oppose the harm or exploitation of animals in the making of art. Materials used in the creation of works are non-animal derived. If art work includes photographs or videos of live or dead animals/remains, artists provide a statement describing the circumstances in which they were encountered and assurance that the animals were not harmed or the remains posed for the purposes of the art work.
